It has been accurately said that "the church is one of the only institutions ultimately existing for the benefit of its non-members." We believe that!

Accordingly, we are looking for more and more ways to be useful to those in our community and the world around us. First Baptist hosts a very active food shelf, serving as a distribution point for both food stuffs and grocery store vouchers useful for the occasional needs of folks here in Darlington. We also serve as the local contact point for the distribution of Salvation Army assistance. There are very limited funds available through this program, but we do the best we can with what God gives us. If you have a need, give the church a call at any time.

But we aren't here just to share bread...none of us live by bread alone.

We deeply believe, as Jesus taught us, that "wide is the road that leads to destruction" and "narrow the way that leads to life." We believe Jesus Christ is the only hope any of us have for meaningful, abundant and, especially, eternal life. While we know it is not popular in contemporary culture to believe in the such old-fashioned ideas as hell and eternal punishment, the Bible we read does not give us any other option. We believe there are eternal consequences for the choices we make in life. We believe we were created to enjoy God both now and forever. And so we are constantly looking for ways to "give an account for the hope that is within us." We hope to be increasingly blunt about the hope and joy we have found in Jesus.

If you don't know where you would spend eternity if you were to die tonight, please don't wait. Give any of our leaders here at First Baptist a call at any time. We would love to introduce you to the one who has given us hope.

May you know and cherish the love of Jesus as we are learning to do!
